Summertime Fun

Emma has been enjoying the neighborhood pool every weekend so far this summer. Her pre-school has also started having "splash days" every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer months. So, it is clear that Emma is getting plenty of water time. Here are a few pictures of her at the pool with Terence. Cam has also joined Emma at the pool, but has limited his water activity to the splash pad portion of the pool. We also bought a kite one Saturday morning and tried to get the kite up, up and away, but were unsuccessful. However, we got a few shots of our attempts.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Yesterday the Plum Creek HOA held the annual Easter Egg Hunt. We got up early and dressed Emma in comfy clothes so that she could hunt comfortably. We arrived a few minutes early to scout out the terrain. Then the children were off. 3 mintues later the hunt was over.

That afternoon, only because Aunt Alicia had brought Easter baskets that she and Aunt Dana had made for Emma and Cam, we had a pre-Easter basket unveiling.

Then on Easter morning there was an egg hunt for the eggs Emma, Alicia and I had dyed.

I captured a picture of my kind beautiful daughter and my happy handsome son.

Finally, some silly pictures...

Fun around the Hall house

I have a moment to myself. What? Yes! Cam and Emma are down for their afternoon naps and Terence is out mowing the lawn. I should be doing something constructive like folding laundry, but I am not.

I wanted to post some pictures of just random moments around the Hall house. First let us start with the craziness that is Emma. The other night I was changing Cam into a onesie when Emma decided that she too wanted to wear a onesie. She picked one out of Cam's drawer and put it on. Over her pajama's. And this is the result.

A few nights ago, while Emma was eating an omlet for dinner, my mom called. I put her on speaker so that Emma too could chat. My mom said something that Emma did not agree with and she gave my mom "the eye". Emma has become very good at cutting her eyes at someone (mostly me) when she doesn't want to do something. Here is Emma cutting the eye at Grandma.

Now on to Cam. The pictures speak for themselves. Not too many anticdotes accompany Cam's pictures. I will just say the pics show him in all his handsome babyness.

Saint Patrick's Day Fun

It was Cam's first St. Patrick's Day and Emma helped him celebrate in style. I had purchased him a shamrock sleeper and my sisters bought Emma a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" shirt. Here are a few shots of the two together.

Here is Cam getting into the holiday spirit.

And this is a shot of my future Irish rapper.

Pyloric Stenosis

What you may ask is Pyloric Stenosis? Well, it is a condition that causes severe projectile vomiting in the first few months of life. There is narrowing (stenosis) of the opening from the stomach to the first part of the small intestine known as the duodenum, due to enlargement of the muscle surrounding this opening (the pylorus), which spasms when the stomach empties. Infantile pyloric stenosis is typically managed with surgery.
And that is exactly what happened to Cam.
We went to the ER on Thursday night here in Kyle and were told Cam had a virus and that we should feed him Pedialyte. O.k. All day Friday he drank only Pedialyte, so at 4am on Saturday when Cam started throwing up blood, I knew it was more than a mere virus.
Saturday morning found us in the Acute care clinic run by our pediatrician's office. The PA tested Cam's vomit and found it positive for blood and called Dell Children's. We were admitted at 10:30 am.
After a long day of not being able to feed him, tubes forced down his nose and into his stomach to wash it out with saline, and a 30 minute ultrasound wherein Cam cried; we were finally told that he would need surgery that night for he did have pyloric stenosis. He went into surgery at 7:00 pm and was out by 7:30. The surgery was a success.
Cam was monitored in the hospital all day Sunday and we were released Monday afternoon. Cam was a brave little soul.
It has been a week since we were released from Dell and Cam is doing well. He is nursing well and keeping the milk down. There are occasional little spit-ups but nothing like the vomiting before the surgery.
