Meet Sam

Went in for the first appointment yesterday and I had a sonogram. This is Sam at 8 weeks. Sam's head is pointing down in the picture. Sam is 1 inch long. The heartbeat is captured at the bottom of the picture on the left. I was not expecting to get a sonogram so it was a great suprise to see Sam for the first time.

Entering week 8

I have my first OB appointment this week. Terence is going to accompany me, with very little prodding I might add. He still calls the baby "Little Attila". The morning sickness is still making me nausiated, but seems to lessen when I don't take the pre-natal vitamins. That is one of the first questions out of my mouth this week to the OB. I have done some research and it is fairly common for some pre-natal vitamins to increase the nausea. Also factor in the fact that the pills are huge and taking them is a struggle. I have come across chewable pre-natal vitamins and hopefully my doctor can recommend or prescribe them for me.

There is a lot going on inside me this week, but I am not showing. "Sam" is the size of a kidney bean and fingers and toes are starting to develope. Even though "Sam" is only the size of a bean, my pants are fitting a little tighter. I am eating like 6 or 7 small little meals a day but have only gained a little over 4 pounds.

I am trying to stay active. I have a 1/2 marathon run in a months time. I am running twice a week but know that is not enough to set a records pace this year. It will be the first of many runs I hope that "Sam" and I race.

Alicia's Graduation 2009

This weeks blog is dedicated to Alicia because it is official, she has graduated from the University of North Texas. Family traveled from Marshall, Austin, Colorado, and Georgia to come and celebrate with her in this great accomplishment. It was a quick trip for us. "Sam" tried to behave but there was a bout of 'morning sickness' in the early evening that put me out of commission for an hour or so, but I was back in the mix for the cake.
Congratulations Alicia...

Swimsuit season

The dreaded swimsuit season is upon us. I know this because of the racks of bikini's and tankini's that are voluminously displayed upon walking into any store right now from Target, to Macy's. Ugh. Knowing that a lake trip will be inevitable and probably needed during this summer season I have started browsing the internet for maternity swimsuits. I have no idea how much my belly will grow between now and the August, but I want to be prepared. So below are two that I have selected from a site that I feel will become near and dear to my heart in the next 8 months -- Destination Maternity.
Post your comments and votes and if any of you find or know of another cool website please do tell.

Just shy of 5 weeks. At five weeks I have a small seahorse type creature growing inside me.
I have not yet been experiencing morning sickness (which I am thankful for) but am told that I can look forward to such at around 6 weeks. I go in for my first OB visit at 8 weeks on May 27th.

Yes, I am Pregnant

O.k. well at 4 weeks you cannot really expect to see anything. T will be a good sport in taking pictures as the weeks progress. We are so excited! After a year of trying the attempts and prayers have resulted in this thrilling new chapter in our lives.

The dogs are still undecided about the news. I guess they are just going to go with the flow as you can see them doing here.
