Plaid Shorts on Friday

A mother of one of Emma's classmates is truly an organizer. She initiated and planned everyone wearing plaid shorts to class this past Friday. I forgot my camera, but other mom's were smarter than I and captured the organized chaos. As you can see, there is a lot of plaid.

Starting from the center with the baby boy in blue we have Eli with the pacifier in his mouth; then Liberty with her plaid skirt; Emma posing for her close-up; Gabe who does not like tummy time; Maren, who is the oldest and too cool to lay on her stomach; Jazmin, who is a fashion diva; ??; Aksel, sporting a plaid jumper onsie; and finally Jack, with his plaid overalls. After all was said and done, Emma posed for one last shot.

6 month check-up and shots

Oh the dreaded shots again. Emma survived the 2 month, the 4 month and now the 6 month shots. She will be free and clear until her 1 year shots. She again came through like a trooper. She shed a few tears after the second shot and through the third, but once I could pick her up she calmed down.

You can see the multiple band-aids on her little legs. Emma weighed in at 18.75 lbs., and was a long 27 1/2 inches. Her height is in the 93rd percentile and her weight is at the 85th. So, if she were not so long she would be a chunk.

Almost crawling

Emma has been on the move the past couple of weeks. No, she is not crawling yet, but scooting around on the floor, in her crib, and around the play mat. Last week her teacher told me that Emma had been getting up on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth. My first thought was "Oh no, I want her to stay immobile." My second thought "Cool, my baby is getting to be such a big girl." The other night while playing with her in her room the following video captured her new found rocking technique.

In other news, Emma got her 'papers'. Yes, when a child is ready to move up into the next class a paper is taped to the cubby in the classroom. I went into pick Emma up on Wednesday and there was a piece of paper taped to her cubby announcing she will move up to the next level classroom on July 19. A feeling of loss came over me. I know that Emma has bonded with one of her teachers, Ms. Maria, and I am sad that Emma will no longer be in her care. I know all the teachers in all the classrooms love the children and that Emma will be cared for and loved on in her next classroom. In fact, Emma will be reunited with some of her friends, Eli, Mac, Maren, and Nathan. But at the same time will be leaving Gabe and Jasmin behind for a little while until they too move on up.

4th of July Fashion Show

Emma and her friends from day care decided to show their patriotic spirit by dressing up in red, white, and blue. Of course the moms had nothing to do with this. As you can see all the children are happy and carefree in these photos. We must have caught them at a good time...perhaps after lunchtime.

Here is a picture of her friends, Gabe and Jasmine each relaxing in their chairs.

And here are all the little ones in a group showing off their 4th of July outfits.

Am I getting paid for this photo shoot?

Emma had her six month portraits taken this weekend. Here are just a few of the amazing shots that were captured.

A new milestone

Emma can sit up by herself.

One of her daycare classmates recently began to sit up by himself. He is only three weeks older than Emma. I got it in my head then that I should start working with Emma. Well after a day and a half she just decided to sit up.

She is such a big girl sitting up be herself.

Graduation Weekend

Emma seems to have all her adventures on the weekend, this Saturday was no exception. We attended her cousin's high school graduation. Tom Howe graduated from Anderson High School and is about to embark on his life as a freshman at UTSA. This first picture is of Emma and her cousin Lewis (Tom's older brother).

The next two photo's are my attempt at getting a good picture of the clan, but as you can see the boys were too busy playing.

After all the festivities, Emma was so tired. We asked a lot of her and she behaved herself the whole afternoon. My little big girl.
The next day, Emma decided she does not need a pony, as long as she can ride Gideon around.
